Basic Info

The Urrth calendar year is made up of 6 months. Each month has about 8.5 weeks and exactly 60 days. There are 7 days in a week. There are exactly 360 days in a year with one exception. To account for small but significant differences in its orbit around its sun, every 6 years there is an extra week at the end of the year unassociated with any month.

Years

Each country has their own year number based on a significant event specific to them. But the most used year is the global standard. This year is based on the signing of the Treaty of Machandra, which created the International Framework, marking the unition of the 16 countries. The year the treaty was signed is treated as year 0. Year 629 is 629 years after it was signed.

Months and Days

Months: Romaero, Romterra, Romaqua, Rompyro, Romhelio, Romumbra

Days: Aerodom, Terradom, Aquadom, Pyrodom, Heliodom, Umbradom, Nodom

Note: Days and months are ordered by the order in which they are believed to have existed: Air, Urrth, Water, Fire, Light, Dark. Nodom is the one unforged day.

School Schedule

The school schedule is the same across Calopia and many other countries. Students spend 6 months in school a year but the range of months shifts. If the school year starts in Romaero, they go to school through Romumbra and then have the entire month of the next Romaero off. The following school year starts in the next month (Romterra). In summary, school goes from start month up until that month is reached again, then school is not in session that month.

Time Off

During the week there are always two days off from work/school. In every month, Nodom is a day off. The second day off is determined by the current month. Ex: If the month is Rompyro, the days off every week are Pyrodom and Nodom. Every month, there is one week off dedicated to god that corresponds to that month. The week is always the first full week that starts with the day of that forge. If the month is Romhelio, the first week starting with Heliodom is dedicated to the god of light.

Work schedules may, of course, differ, but all (non-higher-ed) schools and typical work schedules follow this. This arrangement is pretty universal across all countries on Urrth.
